I'm Patricia Bell. Let me work with you to produce writing that is clear, correct, consistent, and compelling. I will help ensure that your written communications do exactly what you intend them to do, without any mistakes.
I am a qualified proofreader and editor. I hold a Diploma in Proofreading and Editing, a Master's degree in English, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism. I am also a published writer, with my non-fiction articles, poems, and short stories appearing in various literary journals, anthologies, and magazines, and online. My debut novel, The Library of Unfinished Business, was published in 2022 by Cloud Ink Press. Click here to visit my author website, where I share writing advice, musings on writing, language, and the creative process, and some of my own creative writing.
I named my business after the bellbird for three reasons: my last name, my adopted nationality (I was born in Northern Ireland; the bellbird is native to New Zealand, where I live now), and my love of music and nature. (The bellbird's song is clear, melodious, and perfectly composed - just like a great piece of writing.)
I have travelled extensively, and taught English as a second language in France and Japan. I speak fluent French and basic Japanese. Learning (and teaching) another language is one of the best ways to become an expert at your own native tongue, and to fully understand the intricacies and complexities of linguistic expression.
I have 15 years' experience working as a fundraiser and communications specialist in the not-for-profit sector. In addition to my proofreading and editing work, I contract to not-for-profit organisations as a grants specialist, writing their funding applications and advising them on their overall grants strategies and what they can do to maximise success.
I deliver work quickly, professionally, and at very competitive rates. Contact me today to ask how I can help you reach your writing goals.
